Katy Perry opts out of People's Choice Awards

Looks like Katy Perry isn't ready to be back in the spotlight quite yet. The singer -- who's nominated for seven honors -- announced via Twitter on Monday night that she would not be attending Wednesday night's People's Choice Awards, tweeting,
"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS." No further explanation was given, but I'm sure her recent split had a little something to do with it.

This was to be Perry's first public appearance since Russell Brand filed for a divorce. So the only question that remains is, now that Perry's no longer going, can Russell get his invite back?
