Deepika's Workout Regime
Though not a gym-addict, Deepika keeps hitting the gym frequently. “I go to the gym whenever I can. When I am travelling, I do make it a point to work out in the hotel gym,” says Deepika. Her typical workout routine is a fine mix of cardio and weight training, which Deepika believes is helpful in “losing/maintaining weight and toning up the body.”
Deepika has incorporated yoga into her daily fitness regimen. She maintains that yoga helps in revitalizing the mind and soul and turns out to be a great workout. On days, she is unable to go to the gym, she goes for walks, which she says are great cardio exercises. “If I can't go to the gym, I walk twice a day, half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening,” declares Deepika.
Deepika's Diet Routine
When it comes to food, Deepika has no qualms about it. She's a self-confessed foodie and loves gorging on delicacies. For her, starvations are a strict no-no. But she eats with responsibility. On days, she has binged on good food, she makes sure that she does an appropriate amount of workout. “Only diet or only exercise won't help in overall body weight loss. You have to combine the two” she explains.
Deepika's breakfast is chiefly composed of South Indian stuff - upma, idli, dosa etc. She may include paranthas at times.During shoots, she sticks to “ghar ka khana”: the regular dal, chapati, rice, salad and subzi. If the food is from the studio, Deepika prefers going for idlis as they are light. Deepika has a thing for rice and doesn't let go of it like many others following a fitness regime. She says that her body is used to it. Snacks for Deepika are mainly fruits like grapes, mangoes and her all-time favourite coconut water. For dinner, she keeps it light. No rice and no non-veg food. She normally goes for porridge with pickle and homemade dal and steamed subzi.
